KYTC District Six will be working on the following road projects in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties this week. The district warns that weather may alter or delay the projects, but that drivers should be mindful of road signs, delays and detours — and be careful around road crews.

BOONE AND KENTON COUNTIES
A resurfacing project on several routes in Boone and Kenton Counties is in progress. This project will also include sidewalk ramp reconstruction in various areas, sidewalk/curb repairs, curb box inlet repairs, radar detection at several intersections and the installation of signal head and other various signage.
The following locations will be resurfaced:
COMPLETE: U.S. 42 from east of Ewing Blvd. (14.5 mile point) to Main Street (U.S. 25) (15.28 mile point).
IN PROGRESS: Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) from north of Dortha Avenue (10.9 mile point) to the Boone/Kenton County line (11.4 mile point).
IN PROGRESS: Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) from the Boone/Kenton County line (4.97 mile point) to north of Hallam Avenue (6.26 mile point).
COMPLETE: Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) from north of Marian Drive (8.13 mile point) to Orphanage Road (KY 371) (8.65 mile point).
The project also includes a roadway reconfiguration of Dixie Highway from Turfway Road to northeast of Commonwealth Avenue. This portion of the work is currently paused to allow KYTC to reengage with the Cities of Erlanger, Elsmere and Florence. Informational meetings about the roadway reconfiguration are underway.
Boone County
U.S. 42 — 0.0 – 5.67 mile points — A resurfacing project on U.S. 42 between the Boone/Gallatin County line and Richwood Road is expected to begin on Monday, April 6. Motorists should expect single lane closures throughout the project area. When Boone County Schools are in session, this work will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. There are no time restrictions for work when school is out for spring and summer break. Milling and paving operations have not yet been scheduled. Weather permitting, tihs work is expected to be completed by June 30.
Petersburg Road (KY 20) – 20.73 mile point – Utility crews are installing new wires that will span Petersburg Road east of Hetzel Drive.
The rolling roadblock portion of this work is now complete. To finish the installation, crews will have a single lane closure in place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with flaggers on each side of the work zone to direct traffic.
Weather permitting, this work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10.
Petersburg Road (KY 20) – 8.15 – 10.87 mile points – A resurfacing project on Petersburg Road from Woolper Road extending easterly to Idlewild Bypass is now complete.
Beaver Road (KY 1292) – 2.40 – 4.93 mile points – A resurfacing project on Beaver Road from the bridge near Sturgeon Road extending easterly to KY 14 is now complete.
Richardson Road (KY 842) – 0.12 mile point – The bridge east of Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) on Richardson Road at the 0.12 mile point has a weight limit reduction of three tons.
While the bridge remains safe for vehicular traffic, a recent inspection found some deterioration. KYTC bridge engineering analysis shows the weight limit reduction is needed as a precaution, and to prevent further damage until the bridge can be repaired. KYTC is working with the railroad company to coordinate a repair plan.
We will provide updates once the bridge repair plan has been scheduled. Prohibited vehicles can detour using Industrial Road (KY 1829) or Mt. Zion Road (KY 536).
Donaldson Highway (KY 236) 0.0 – 1.6 mile points – A widening and safety improvement project on KY 236 (Donaldson Highway) between KY 842 (Houston Road) and KY 3076 (Mineola Pike) is nearing completion. The project will widen the 2-mile stretch of road to five lanes with curb and gutter, including two through-lanes in each direction with a center turn lane. A sidewalk and multiuse path also will be added.

Campbell County
Moock Road (KY 1632) – 0.5 mile point – A temporary road closure is in place on a portion of Moock Road just west of Beverly Drive due to a water main break that occurred on Tuesday, March 31.
Crews are actively working on repairs with paving operations scheduled for Friday morning, April 3, to restore the road surface. The road is expected to reopen Friday evening.
Through traffic will not be permitted. Local traffic will have access to residences within the closure limits. Motorists should use Licking Pike (KY 9) or Alexandria Pike (U.S. 27) to access properties up to the closure point.
Three Mile Road (KY 2238) – 18.5 mile point – A permit project will require a two-week closure of a portion of Three Mile Road for the installation of sanitary sewer.
This work will require a full closure of Three Mile Road at the 1.85 mile point, near Gibson Lane. The closure will begin Monday, March 30, at 12 p.m. and remain in place through Monday, April 13. The roadway will be closed to thru traffic, and first responders will not have access through the work zone. Local traffic will be permitted to access homes within the closure limits.
Due to the extent of work, the full closure will remain in place 24/7 for the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid delays. Message boards are in place to notify the public of the upcoming work.
Weather permitting, this permit project is expected to be completed by Monday, April 13.
E. Alexandria Pike (KY 2925) – 0.4 – 0.6 mile points – Due to a slide, a single lane closure is in place on a portion of E. Alexandria Pike, south of Cabin Creek Drive. KYTC crews have installed temporary traffic signals on each side of the slide. Motorists will use a single lane to get through the slide area. This will be in place until further notice. KYTC is evaluating the repairs needed and will inform the public of a repair plan at a later date.
Grand Avenue (KY 1892) – 1.42 – 2.12 mile points – A roadway rehabilitation project will resume on March 20, 2026. Crews will be replacing the concrete pavement with asphalt on Grand Avenue from east of Pavilion Parkway (2.12 mile point) to southeast of Churchill Drive (1.42 mile point), a distance of 0.7 miles. Additionally, curb box inlets will be repaired and sidewalks will be improved to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Crews are performing a traffic switch on Grand Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be blocked during this phase of construction, and will utilize a single westbound lane for eastbound travel. This traffic configuration is expected to be in place for 6-8 weeks. The eastbound sidewalk will be blocked. TANK riders at the Grand Towers stop will utilize the stop at Churchill and Grand Avenue. Additionally, the I-471 southbound off-ramp to Grand Avenue will be blocked
Additional phases for this project will include traffic switches, extended ramp closures and various lane closures in the project area. KYTC will provide future traffic impacts via press release, social media and the KYTC District 6 Roadshow.
Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed Aug. 1, 2026.
Kenton County
I-75 Southbound – 169.2 mile point – Signage replacement for the nearby weigh station is now complete.
I-275 Westbound — 79 – 80.23 mile points — A maintenance project on the bridge overpass over KY 17 will begin on Monday, April 6. Crews will be performing a pothole patching project on the bridge deck. This work will require a single right lane closure between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. As work progresses, this work will also require a daytime closure of the exit off-ramp to Madison Pike. This closure is expected mid-week. KYTC will update the Roadshow ahead of the ramp closure. Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed by Friday, April 17. KYTC will advise if additional days are needed.
I-275 Eastbound – 79.66 – 81 mile point – A maintenance project on the bridge overpass has been completed.
Bristow Road/Shaw Road (KY 536) – 2.54 – 4.47 mile points – A widening and safety improvement project on KY 536 from Williamswoods Drive to Madison Pike (KY 17) is in progress.
The project includes the following improvements:
-Widening throughout the project area from two lanes of vehicular traffic, to four lanes, to reduce congestion and improve traffic efficiency
-A new alignment will be created north of the current KY 536
-A new bridge will be constructed over the existing Independence Road. This portion will tie back into the current KY 536 at mile point 3.9
-A multi-use path will be built on both sides of KY 536 to improve bicycle/pedestrian connectivity
-Curb/gutter improvements along with storm sewer and drainage work.
Additionally, two roundabouts will be built to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and increase safety. These roundabouts will be located at the following intersections:
-The intersection of KY 536 and Williamswoods Drive
-On the newly constructed portion of KY 536 west of Independence Road
This work may involve several traffic impacts for equipment moving in and out of the work zone.
The project will require traffic switches, and other new traffic patterns. Prior to these occurring, KYTC will send out an updated press release, as well as a post on social media to inform the public. Message boards will also be in place to warn motorists of any upcoming traffic pattern changes.

Access to Royal Drive at Buttermilk Pike (KY 371) – 2.65 mile point – On Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, access to Royal Drive at Buttermilk Pike was closed to motorists until further notice for infrastructure construction and repair.
A portion of Royal Drive will be restricted to construction traffic only, and detour signs will be posted to guide motorists. Local traffic should plan to use alternate routes.

Bristow Road (KY 1303) – 0.0 – 0.92 mile point – A widening and safety improvement project on Bristow Road began in September 2024. Crews will be working on Bristow Road from the KY 536/KY 1303 intersection to the Beechgrove Elementary School.
The project includes the following improvements:
-Widening throughout the project area from two lanes of vehicular traffic, to four lanes to reduce congestion and improve traffic efficiency
-A multi-use path will be built on both sides of Bristow Road to improve bicycle/pedestrian connectivity
-Curb/gutter improvements along with storm sewer and drainage work. This work will greatly improve drainage in an area that has been prone to flooding
Additionally, the project will eventually tie into a new roundabout at the KY 536 and KY 1303 intersection improving traffic flow, reducing congestion and increasing safety.
This work may involve several traffic impacts for equipment moving in and out of the work zone. The project will require traffic switches, and other new traffic patterns. Prior to these occurring, KYTC will send out an updated press release, as well as a post on social media to inform the public. Message boards will also be in place to warn motorists of any upcoming traffic pattern changes.

Intersection of Kenton Lands Road (KY 2373) and Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) – Intersection improvements are in progress. Most of the work is complete. Once tempertures are warm enough, crews will return to install permanent thermoplastic striping throughout the intersection.
Crews have restriped Kenton Lands Road and the access point to the Kroger development. Striping improvements include dual left turn movements on each side of the intersection. Additionally, split signal phasing has been implemented to allow green time for Kenton Lands Road and the Kroger development separately.
Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed by the end of April 2026.
Ernstbridge Road (CR 1021) – A bridge replacement project on Ernstbridge Road (CR 1021) is nearing completion. Some asphalt work still remains, which will be completed in Spring 2026. Please continue to drive carefully through the area. The overall project has an expected completion date of Spring 2026.
Mt. Zion Road/Bristow Road (KY 536) – 0.96 – 2.5 mile points – A widening and safety improvement project on KY 536 is in progress. Crews will be working on KY 536 from west of the KY 1303 intersection, to west of Williamswoods Drive.
The project includes the following improvements:
-Widening throughout the project area from two lanes of vehicular traffic, to four lanes, to reduce congestion and improve traffic efficiency
-A multi-use path will be built on both sides of KY 536 to improve bicycle/pedestrian connectivity
-Curb/gutter improvements along with storm sewer and drainage work
Additionally, two roundabouts will be built to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and increase safety. These roundabouts will be located at the following intersections:
-KY 536 and KY 1303
-KY 536 and Hogrefe Road
This work may involve several traffic impacts for equipment moving in and out of the work zone.
