This Saturday, thousands of Scouts across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky will take part in the annual Scouting for Food drive, collecting donations from neighborhoods to support families facing food insecurity.

Scouts from Dan Beard Council, Scouting America will gather non-perishable food items left on doorsteps and deliver them to the FreeStore Foodbank and other local food pantries. The effort is expected to provide tens of thousands of meals to individuals and families throughout the region.
Scouting for Food is one of the largest community service initiatives led by local Scouts each year, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to service and helping others.
“Scouting is rooted in service to others, and Scouting for Food is one of the most visible ways our youth give back to their communities,” said Andy Zahn, Scout Executive of the Dan Beard Council. “Each year, thousands of Scouts step up to make a real difference for families in need. It’s a powerful example of the impact young people can have when they come together to serve.”
Residents who received Scouting for Food flyers are encouraged to participate by leaving non-perishable food donations in a bag near their mailbox or front porch by Saturday morning for Scouts to collect.
Through efforts like Scouting for Food, local Scouts continue to live out the values of the Scout Oath and Law demonstrating leadership, compassion, and a commitment to helping others.
