People Working Cooperatively (PWC), a nonprofit that provides critical home repair, weatherization, and accessibility modification services for low-income homeowners throughout southwestern Ohio and northern Kentucky, is hosting its 45th annual Repair Affair event, happening in May, and volunteer registration closes Friday, April 24.

Throughout the month of May, volunteers from across the region will provide home maintenance services for residents, many of whom are elderly, veterans, single parents or grandparents raising grandchildren, and individuals with disabilities living on a fixed income.
“This is a great opportunity for families, companies, schools and individuals to get outdoors, enjoy the warm weather, and make a real difference in the community,” said Matt Leininger, PWC’s Volunteer Program Manager. “Through Repair Affair, we’re able to support neighbors across the region with home repairs they may not be able to tackle on their own. Whether you’re experienced with tools or just willing to lend a hand, we’ll match you with a job that suits your skills. It’s a great way to connect with others and help improve someone’s home and quality of life.”
The main participation date for Repair Affair is Saturday, May 16, which includes a post-event celebration with free food for all volunteers at PWC’s Bond Hill headquarters (4612 Paddock Road). However, volunteer groups can participate on any day in May that works best for them.
PWC will provide participants with all of the necessary job materials and handle debris disposal. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least four hours of service and will be matched with a project that fits the skills and preferences of their group.
People will be making a difference by:
• Installing handrails
• Installing ramps
• Installing grab bars and assessing safety and mobility challenges
• Repairing damaged walkways and steps
• Performing landscaping or other home maintenance
Volunteers can register online through April 24 at pwchomerepairs.org/repair-affair or contact Matt Leininger, PWC’s Volunteer Program Manager, at leiningerm@pwchomerepairs.org.
