Champions will be decided in three sports Monday with the Region 9 girls tennis finals, Class 3A Region 5 track meet and District 5 boys lacrosse title match on the schedule.
The tennis finals are set for 4:30 p.m at Boone Woods Park. On one court, two-time defending singles champion Kayla Johnson of Cooper will face Natalie Elleman of Conner.
The region doubles final will have two-time defending champions Avery Love and Niveditha Salvaraju of Ryle going against Isabella Mcelwee and Malia Christiansen of Notre Dame.
The Region 9 boys tennis tournament has quarterfinal matches scheduled on Monday at Covington Catholic. Those matchups are listed below.
The Class 3A region track meet returns to Scott where Dixie Heights won both the boys and girls team titles last year. One of the meet’s featured performers is Ryle senior Paul Van Laningham, who set a state record in the 1,600 run last year.
The other region track meets this week are Class 1A at Brossart on Friday and Class 2A at CovCath on Saturday.
Opponents in the boys lacrosse district final will be defending champion Dixie Heights vs. Ryle at 7 p.m. Monday at CovCath. Both teams will advance to the state tournament and play the District 7 winner and runner-up on Wednesday.
The District 5 girls lacrosse final was played Friday when Cooper defeated Ryle, 9-6. Those teams will also play the District 7 winner and runner-up teams on Wednesday.
