In the midst of the food insecurity crisis in America, a nonprofit in Boone County stands to face that crisis head-on.
Master Provisions, a hospitable, faith-based nonprofit, aims to eliminate the food insecurity crisis for those Americans living in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.
Founded in 1994, the nonprofit originally was an international organization focused on providing all kinds of necessities to people all over the world.
Though in 2013, they turned towards the people of their local communities, serving 26 counties and focusing mostly on those fighting to keep food on their tables.
Through sponsors, donors, and volunteers, the nonprofit provides over 121,000 meals a month for those in need. In addition, they partner with 228 total nonprofit food partners to make sure that every person, no matter their age, has the food they need to survive.

When one walks into the Master Provisions building and warehouse, they are met with individuals who strive to make everyone who walks into it more knowledgeable about service and compassion.
Marketing and Development Director, Kortni Danks, made it evident that some of the nonprofit’s goals were to make sure that every individual and organization that partners with them is helped and satisfied.
“Every organization has something that they are excited to see [here],” said Danks. “Everyone is doing different things in the community to help others.”
With the hope of inspiring all generations to continue fighting food insecurity, Master Provisions has three different ways that one could contribute to their mission: Student Days, MPact Makers, and simply volunteering.
Student Days are every first and third Tuesday of each month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., where students can come to the warehouse and volunteer, whether that is for service hours or just wanting to serve the community.
MPact Makers is a way for individuals to donate $24 monthly, which provides almost 1,000 meals a year.
Through volunteering, Master Provisions opens its doors to all who are willing and able to help volunteer in their warehouse. In 2025, volunteers contributed over 19,000 hours of work, doing everything from dividing up food from shipments to stocking shelves.

While Master Provisions has a primary focus on providing meals to its community, they also have a service ministry where individuals with disabilities can build social skills while volunteering. His Heroes is an eight-week internship program in August, designed for individuals with disabilities to learn how to prepare for their vocations through different trainings and hands-on learning activities.
Two upcoming events where sponsors and donors can help Master Provisions and learn about their organization are the Larry Nelson Master Pro Golf Classic and the Hungry for Answers: MP Mystery Dinner.
The Larry Nelson Master Pro Golf Classic will take place on Aug. 17, 2026, at the Triple Crown Country Club in Union.
The Hungry for Answers: MP Mystery Dinner will take place on Nov. 5, 2026, at The Grand Ballroom in Covington.
