The Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky has earned eight National Association Excellence Awards from the National Association of Home Builders, tying the record for the most awards won by a single association in one year.
The Association Excellence Awards are NAHB’s national awards competition, recognizing excellence in association management, member services, workforce development, government affairs, communications, and organizational innovation among more than 600 state and local home builder’s associations nationwide. Only 19 awards are presented each year.
The 2025 awards mark the second time BIA NKY has won eight national awards in a single year — a distinction no other local association has achieved. Including this year’s honors, BIA NKY has earned 62 National Association Excellence Awards since 2009.

“This achievement reflects the incredible work of our members, volunteer leaders, staff, educational partners, elected officials, and industry stakeholders,” said Brian Miller, executive vice president of BIA NKY and president of the Enzweiler Building Institute. “To win eight national awards for a second time and reach 62 total awards since 2009 demonstrates that the programs being developed in Northern Kentucky are making a measurable impact and setting a national standard for excellence.”
BIA NKY represents 447 member companies and more than 10,000 workers throughout the residential construction industry. Through its workforce development arm, the Enzweiler Building Institute, the association serves hundreds of students annually across its Covington and Boone County campuses..

Several of the award-winning initiatives were developed through EBI and are helping address one of the region’s most pressing challenges — developing the skilled workforce needed to build homes, support economic growth, and strengthen local communities.
As housing demand continues to outpace supply across Kentucky and the nation, workforce development remains one of the most significant constraints to increasing housing production. Without enough skilled workers entering the construction industry, it becomes increasingly difficult to meet housing demand and improve affordability.
The Nationally recognized Construction Trades Dual Credit Programming, High School to Post-Secondary Pathway, is creating direct opportunities for students to earn educational credit while gaining hands-on experience in construction careers. Combined with the passage of House Bill 54, which expanded dual-credit opportunities through licensed trades training, the initiative is creating stronger pathways from the classroom to the workforce.
The award-winning First Aid/CPR Certified School Initiative ensures students and industry professionals graduate with nationally recognized safety credentials, while the Business Boost CEU Program provides accessible education that helps industry professionals strengthen leadership skills, improve business performance, and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.
“Workforce development is one of the most important issues facing our region,” Miller said. “Every student who enters the trades, every professional who advances their skills, and every employer who gains access to qualified workers helps strengthen Northern Kentucky’s economy. These award-winning programs are producing real results and helping ensure our region has the workforce necessary to meet future housing and economic development needs.”
The award-winning initiatives span workforce development, education, technology, government affairs, strategic partnerships, member engagement, and industry advancement. Together, they demonstrate how collaboration, innovation, and industry leadership can create solutions that not only benefit Northern Kentucky but also serve as models for communities across the country.
The Northern Kentucky Housing Blueprint, workforce training initiatives, educational programs, advocacy efforts, and technology innovations recognized through these awards are helping strengthen the residential construction industry while creating new opportunities for students, businesses, and families throughout the region.
“We are honored to receive this recognition, but what matters most is the impact these programs have on our members, students, businesses, and communities,” Miller said. “These awards belong to everyone who has contributed to making Northern Kentucky a leader in workforce development, education, advocacy, and innovation.”
