The Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents elected Kara Williams as chair, Brad Zapp as vice chair and Ashley Himes as secretary. The board also welcomes Kyah Smith as the new Student Regent for the upcoming school year.
The Board of Regents, the governing body responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and policies of NKU, recently conducted its annual election to appoint officers for the upcoming term.
• Regent Kara Williams, founder of The Marketing Collective and former NKU Board of Regents vice chair, will serve as chair.
• Regent Brad Zapp, co-founder and managing partner of Connetic Ventures, founder and managing member of ZH Holdings, co-founder of Wendal, will serve as vice chair.
• Regent Ashley Himes, student services coordinator for the Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services (NKCES), will continue to serve as secretary.
“It is an honor to serve as chair of the Board of Regents at my alma mater,” said Williams. “NKU’s mission of transforming lives through education is one I care deeply about, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back in this role. I look forward to working with university leadership to build on the university’s momentum and position NKU for continued success.”
Since graduating from NKU in 2001, Williams has served in a number of roles at the university, including vice chair of the Board of Regents, 14 years on the Board of Directors of the Northern Kentucky University Foundation, and chair of the Membership and Executive Committees.
Student Government Association President Kyah Smith, a Cincinnati native, has also been sworn in as Student Regent. Smith is a senior studying accounting in the Haile College of Business.
