Schneider’s Sweet Shop launches initiative to support Chicks & Chucks breast cancer nonprofit

Schneider’s Sweet Shop owners Kelly and Tim Morgan are turning a cause that has touched their own family into a way to give back with the launch of Schneider’s Sweetness for a Purpose, a campaign benefiting local breast cancer nonprofit Chicks & Chucks.

Breast cancer is personal for the Morgans. Tim’s mother faced breast cancer before her passing, giving Kelly and Tim a firsthand understanding of how deeply the disease can affect an entire family.

“This one is really close to our hearts,” Kelly Morgan said. “When someone you love goes through breast cancer, you see how much support matters, not just for that person, but for the whole family. Schneider’s has always been about family and community, and we wanted to find a way to use something sweet to do some good for families right here at home.”

The campaign kicks off Monday, August 31, at Barleycorn’s Brewhouse in Wilder, with guests invited to arrive beginning at 5:30 p.m. and an official tapping at 6 p.m. of Schneider’s Sweet Nectar Lager, a collaboration between Schneider’s and Barleycorn’s inspired by Schneider’s nostalgic Nectar Ice Ball.

The evening will also include a Dine to Donate benefiting Chicks & Chucks and the debut of the Better Together Sundae, made with Schneider’s vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and pink sprinkles. One hundred percent of proceeds from the sundae will benefit Chicks & Chucks.

Sweetness for a Purpose will continue throughout the fall with rotating pink treats at Schneider’s, with proceeds supporting Chicks & Chucks.

The campaign builds toward Bluegrass for Good, Saturday, October 17 from 1-7 p.m. on Foote Avenue in Bellevue. Schneider’s Sweet Shop is the title sponsor of the Sweetest Day event, featuring live bluegrass music, food, beer, family fun and community partners, all raising funds and awareness for Chicks & Chucks. Barleycorn’s Brewhouse will also be serving beer at the event.

The partnership continues a growing relationship between Barleycorn’s Brewhouse and Chicks & Chucks. Earlier this year, the first Chicks on the Run 5K & Honor Walk at the Brewhouse in Wilder raised $7,700 for Chicks & Chucks.

“We hope people have fun with it, whether they come have a sundae, try the beer or join us at Bluegrass for Good,” Morgan said. “But at the heart of all of this are the women and families going through breast cancer. We want them to know their community is behind them.”

Chicks & Chucks became a nonprofit is 2006 to provide support for local patients and families dealing with breast cancer. It is an all-volunteer organization.
