CASA of the Northern Bluegrass Region to host 13th Annual Superhero 5K on September 19

CASA of the Northern Bluegrass Region will host its 13th Annual CASA Superhero 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 19, at England-Idlewild Park in Burlington. Race-day registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the 5K starting at 9:30 a.m.

The annual event brings runners, walkers, families and community supporters together to raise funds and awareness for CASA’s mission of providing trained volunteer advocates for children involved in the family court system. Last year’s Superhero 5K drew more than 200 participants, and organizers are hoping for another strong turnout this year. Proceeds from the event support CASA’s work recruiting, training and supporting volunteer advocates for children in the community.

In 2025, CASA of the Northern Bluegrass Region served 260 children with the help of 90 active CASA volunteers, a 13% increase in children served from the previous year. CASA is currently on pace to serve even more children in 2026, underscoring the continued need for trained CASA volunteers and community support throughout the region.

“The Superhero 5K is one of our favorite events because it gives our entire community an opportunity to come together for the children we serve,” said Nicky Jeffries, Executive Director of CASA of the Northern Bluegrass Region. “You don’t have to be a runner to participate. Whether you run, walk, volunteer, sponsor or simply come out to cheer everyone on, you are helping us continue to provide a voice for children who need someone in their corner.”

This year’s Superhero 5K will feature a Kids Fun Run, DJ, face painting, balloon artist, raffles, awards and other family-friendly activities. Kona Ice and Tom’s Coffee will also be on site on race morning, and Joe Danneman will serve as emcee. Participants of all ages are encouraged to embrace the superhero theme and come dressed as their favorite superhero.

The Yung Family Foundation is the Presenting Sponsor of the 13th Annual CASA Superhero 5K.
