Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin will serve 60 days in jail for contempt of court, a Louisville judge ordered Friday in Jefferson Family Court.

Judge Angela Johnson said she may revisit the case in 30 days, and the sentence is appealable.

Bevin was arrested Thursday by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office after having a warrant against him for several months. The former governor was arrested in Paris while playing an extra on the set of a Christmas movie being filmed on Houstondale Farm at Fords Mill Road. Witnesses said he was cooperative and not placed in handcuffs.

The Christmas movie, called “The Greatest Christmas Gift,” stars Danica McKellar (“Wonder Years”) and Matthew Marsden. It will premiere on Nov. 29 on Great American Pure Flix.

Someone on the film set called authorities to report Bevin was there. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Jefferson County jail.

Bevin, a Republican who was governor from 2015-2019, was reportedly arrested in Paris while playing an extra on the set of a Christmas movie being filmed on Houstondale Farm at Fords Mill Road. Witnesses said he was cooperative and not placed in handcuffs.

The former governor had an active bench warrant against him in Jefferson County, where Family Court Judge Angela Johnson found him in contempt of court for not turning over required financial documents to the court in his divorce and child support case for Jonah Bevin, one of his adopted children.

The warrant was issued after he missed a deadline to provide the court with financial documents opposing attorneys said were needed to prepare for a trial. He was given an option to bypass jail by paying a $250 fine and providing the filings within a week. He sent several documents minutes before the June 5 deadline but requested additional time to produce the others. The judge denied his request.
