The Secretary of State on Friday reported Kentucky’s voter registrations continue to surge with 8,266 new voters registering in August.
The number results in a net increase in registrations of 4,602 given 3,664 voters having been purged from the roles during the month.
Of those removed in August, 3,233 were deceased, 258 moved out of state, 74 were duplicate registrations, 65 were adjudged mentally incompetent, 18 voluntarily de-registered, nine identified as non-citizens, and seven were felony convicts.
With the August totals, Kentucky has removed 753,181 ineligible voters since 2020.
Democratic registrations now account for 41 percent of the state’s electorate, with 1,371,014 voters. Democratic registration rose by 260 voters, a .0019 percent increase.
Republican registrations make up 48 percent of the electorate, with 1,624,505 voters. Republican registration grew by 1,849 voters, a .11 percent increase.
There are 386,382 voters registered under other political affiliations — mostly Independent — making up 11 percent of the electorate. “Other” registration jumped by 2,493 voters, a .65 percent increase.
