Cincinnati Children’s, Newport Central Catholic High School, and The Blessing List Ministry will host “Real Talk and Real Hope About Suicide Prevention” on Monday, September 21, open to all students 8th grade and above, parents, families, educators and community members together for an evening focused on suicide prevention and youth mental health.
The evening will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear from professionals at Cincinnati Children’s who work directly with young people, as well as people who can speak from lived experience. Attendees will also learn about resources available and have the opportunity to ask questions anonymously.
The goal is to create an environment where students and families can have real conversations about suicide and mental health—and leave empowered, with a better understanding of how we can work together to prevent suicide and support young people. Students from Newport Central Catholic have been actively involved in creating the format for the evening.
In addition to raising awareness, the Blessing List Ministry has set a goal of raising $25,000 for the Zero Suicide Initiative Fund at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The money will be used to fund two important programs at Children’s that have been proven to reduce suicide rates and save lives. Real Talk and Real Hope About Suicide Prevention will take place Monday, September 21, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Newport Central Catholic High School, located at 13 Carothers Road in Newport.
