Mi Cozumel Mexican restaurant announces plans for expansion of Newport on the Levee location

Mi Cozumel, a Cincinnati-based restaurant serving modern Mexican cuisine, announced plans to expand its space at Newport on the Levee from 5,800 to 8,600 square feet. The expansion will add room for more guests, larger groups, and additional outdoor seating overlooking the river.

Located along the Riverwalk, Mi Cozumel opened at The Levee in summer 2025. The restaurant serves a range of quintessential Mexican dishes using fresh ingredients and bold flavors, and is known for its Margarita Tower and tableside preparations, including its made-to-order guacamole and Flaming Fajitas.

“Since opening at The Levee, we’ve consistently seen the demand for more space, especially for larger groups and celebrations,” said Liliana Jaime, CEO of Mi Cozumel. “This expansion allows us to accommodate more guests without sacrificing the quality experience that makes Mi Cozumel special. We look forward to growing our footprint even further and continuing to enhance the atmosphere at The Levee.”

Construction on the expansion will begin in February 2027. The additional 2,800 square feet will increase the restaurant’s indoor and outdoor seating capacity, allowing the team to accommodate larger parties and more guests overall. The extended patio will add more riverfront tables with direct views of the Ohio River.

“Mi Cozumel has quickly become a guest favorite since joining The Levee, and this expansion is a testament to the strong connection they’ve built with the community,” said Alex Schwiebert, Senior Vice President of Asset Management at Jamestown. “We’re thrilled to support their growth and continue building an exciting mix of dining experiences that make The Levee the top riverfront destination.”

“This expansion reflects the kind of tenant partnership we look for at The Levee, where growth also means a better experience for guests,” said Bryan Kim, Senior Vice President of Asset Management at Jamestown. “Adding riverfront patio space and room for larger groups not only benefits Mi Cozumel, but strengthens the overall visitor experience we’re building across the entire property. We look forward to seeing this concept continue to thrive at The Levee.”

In addition to Mi Cozumel, The Levee is home to a mix of dining, retail, and entertainment offerings, including restaurants such as Shiners On The Levee, Little Spoon Bakery & Café, Brothers Bar & Grill, Brio Italian Grille, and Five Guys; entertainment concepts Par 3, AMC Theaters, Immersive Gamebox, and Velocity Esports; and retail shops Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices, Prime IV, Moondawg’s Studio, Sweet Dreams Candy Co., Trade, Cigars International, and Thieves Guild Gaming.
