After shooting 4-over 40 on the back nine, Dickson finished strong with three birdies and six pars on the front nine.

First-round scores for Northern Kentucky’s other individual state qualifiers were St. Henry eighth-grader Reese Anthony (75), Notre Dame senior Maria Penaranda (82) and Ryle senior Lacey Wilson (102).

Lexington Christian Academy leads the nine-team girls standings with a 14-over 302 total. The Eagles were state runner-up last year.
