The City of Florence is inviting the community to join in honoring the brave men and women who have served our nation during the city’s annual Veterans Day Program on Saturday, November 7 at 11 a.m. at the Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Boulevard.
This year’s program will take place in the lower level community rooms and provide an opportunity for the community to come together in gratitude and reflection while recognizing the service, sacrifice and dedication of our nation’s veterans.

The ceremony will include the presentation of colors, patriotic music by the Florence Community Band and Florence Community Chorus, and a special recognition of veterans in attendance. The Invocation and Benediction will be provided by Reverend Blair Fields, Senior Pastor of Hopeful Lutheran Church. This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Edwin King, City Administrator/U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Officer and he will share reflections on service and the importance of honoring those who have answered the call to serve our country.
The Patriot Guard Riders will provide a special flag display for the event, helping create a meaningful tribute to veterans as they arrive for the ceremony. The program will conclude with a musical tribute by bagpiper Tommy Thompson.
Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served in the lobby. The City of Florence extends its appreciation to Homewatch CareGivers for donating cupcakes and providing resource bags for attendees and to the Patriot Guard Riders for their participation and support of this year’s program.
The City of Florence encourages residents, families and community members to attend this special observance as we come together to recognize our veterans and express our gratitude for their courage, commitment and sacrifice.
Note that this year’s ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., a change from previous years.
