Donate your shoes (in good condition) and do double-the-good — through the end of the year

The Point/Arc’s Zembrodt Education Center and Scheben Care Center have teamed up for a whole bunch of soul.

Err, make that a whole lot of sole.

The two nonprofit organizations under the umbrella of the 54-year-old Point/Arc, are hosting a shoe drive fundraiser through the end of the year.

Lisa West, Executive Director of The Scheben Care Center says funds raised will be used for activities for both her Day program – based in Florence – and the Zembrodt Education Center.

Total monies will be based on total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes.

Shoes may be donated at The Scheben Center (31 Spiral Drive in Florence, Ky.) or the ZEC Center (104 W. Pike Street, Covington).

All donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of
micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs collaborates with micro- entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain, and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.

Proceeds from the shoe-drive fundraisers help feed, clothe, and house their
families.

“We are excited about our shoe drive,” West said. “We know that most people
have extra shoes in their closets they could donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for both our individuals in our Day program and the students at the ZEC Center.

“And, we have the opportunity to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It is a win-win for everyone.”

What Scheben Center and ZEC are looking for:

• Sneakers and athletic shoes.
• Dress shoes and casual shoes.
• Boots
• Sandals and flip-flops.
• Heels and other shoes that are still in good condition.

The Scheben Center and the ZEC are both looking for gifts of sole – from the
soul
.
