As the holiday season and year-end giving period approach, the Kenton County Public Library’s Small Business Resource Collaborative will bring community members together in November for “Beyond Business: Serving Our Community Together,” a conversation about local needs and how businesses, professionals and residents can support the nonprofits working to meet them.

The panel will feature Jane Herms of Family Nurturing Center, Chris Rutledge of Fairhaven Mission and Shane Armstrong of Master Provisions. Together, they will discuss the needs facing children and families, men experiencing homelessness, and people facing food insecurity, along with the challenges nonprofits encounter and opportunities for the community to work together.
The program will also focus on giving during the holidays and throughout the year. Panelists will share ways people can move beyond a one-time seasonal contribution and become lasting community partners. Support can take many forms, including donations, volunteering, workplace drives, professional skills, employment opportunities and connecting others with local resources.
“Community needs don’t end when the holidays are over,” said John Schlipp, Business Resource & Career Navigator Librarian, Kenton County Public Library. “This conversation is a chance to learn about the work local nonprofits do every day and find a practical way to support our neighbors, during the holiday season and throughout the year.”
The event will take place on November 12 at 9 a.m. at the Kenton County Public Library, located at 502 Scott Blvd. in Covington. There is no charge to attend the event. Free guest parking is located next to the library building.
