Thomas More College senior football wide receiver Tyler Vogelpohl (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle), sophomore women’s tennis student-athlete Alyssa DeFiglio (West Harrison, Ind./East Central) and senior men’s soccer forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) earned weekly honors from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) office.

Vogelpohl was named the PAC Football Offensive Player of the Week. Vogelpohl set the Thomas More single-game receiving yards record in Saturday’s 48-0 shutout win over No. 19 St. John Fisher College. He finished the day with 207 yards on eight catches, including a pair of touchdown grabs (17 yards, 50 yards).
DeFiglio was named the PAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. DeFiglio helped lead the Saints to a 2-0 record last week by posting a combined record of 4-0. In singles play she competed at No. 1 and won 6-0, 6-4 against Marietta College and 6-1, 6-3 against Defiance. She teamed with Maryann Meadows at No. 1 doubles and earned an 8-4 victory against Marietta and an 8-3 win against Defiance College.
Juniet was named the PAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Juniet helped lead the Saints to a 2-0 record to start their season as he totaled eight points on three goals and two assists over the two matches. He scored both game-winning goals for Thomas More in victories over Wittenberg University and Case Western Reserve University.
The men’s soccer team entertains Denison in its next match Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The women’s tennis team opens PAC play on Saturday when it is at Geneva College at 10 a.m. and at Westminster College at 3 p.m. The football team is at home on Saturday when it hosts traditional rival Hanover College at 1 p.m. at BB&T Field.
No. 8 TMC women shut out Capital, 4-0
The eighth-ranked Thomas More College women’s soccer team remain unbeaten Wednesday as it defeated Capital University 4-0 in a non-conference match at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
With the win, the Saints improve to 2-0-1 and with the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-2.
The Saints took an early lead when senior forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) scored unassisted at the 20:14 mark. Thomas More increased the lead to 2-0 at the 35:56 mark when junior midfielder Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) scored unassisted. Huber extended the lead to 3-0 at halftime when she scored off an assist from junior defender Josie Perrino (Tracey, Calif./St. Mary’s) at the 40:02 mark.
Thomas More closed out the scored at the 46:08 mark when sophomore forward Julia Flagge-Echols (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) scored unassisted for the final score of 4-0.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) posted her third shutout of the season as she recorded three saves.
The Saints out-shot Capital, 21-5, including 10-3 on-goal. The team tied 3-3 in corner kicks.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (September 12) when it travels to Louisville, Kentucky to play in-state rival Spalding University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
