Drees Homes announces another expansion — into the Columbus, Ohio, area

Drees Homes, a national homebuilder founded and headquartered in Northern Kentucky, has announced expansion into Columbus, Ohio, an area experiencing dynamic growth and opportunity. The move brings Drees into three Ohio markets, with Columbus joining Cleveland and Cincinnati in the company’s portfolio.

With a population of nearly 1 million, Columbus is the most populated city in Ohio and the second most populated city in the Midwest region, according to data from the US Census Bureau. Its thriving economy, marked by a 22% increase in tech jobs since 2023 and the presence of industry giants like Intel, Google and Microsoft, makes it a magnet for the job market and innovation. Named one of only five national “Workforce Hubs,” Columbus also benefits from a strong university presence and a housing market that remains underbuilt, offering a prime opportunity for thoughtful, quality development.

“The market’s similarities to Cincinnati, Cleveland and Indianapolis, along with its adjacency to existing operations, allow us to leverage established resources and deliver exceptional homes to a new community,” said Midwest Regional President Steve Tuckerman.

In early March, Drees marked a major construction milestone, breaking ground on their first model home in the Columbus market, the Ash Lawn floor plan at Alton Place in Hilliard. The model is slated to open this summer. Drees’ inaugural community will feature nine single-family floor plans designed with modern layouts and customizable options with pricing starting in the $800s. Alton Place is located within walking distance to shopping, dining, entertainment and schools, and boasts easy connectivity to the heart of Columbus.

Columbus Division President Andy Artzner brings decades of industry experience to Drees’ newest
division. With a background in land acquisition, customer experience and cost control, he will take the lead in introducing Drees to the central Ohio market while building a high-performing team across sales, construction, operations and land.

The Columbus expansion comes as Drees counts down to its 100th anniversary in 2028 and is part of the Company’s Centennial Strategy, aimed at growing nationwide while continuing to provide an exceptional homebuyer experience.

Headquartered in Ft. Mitchell, Drees Homes operates in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Nashville, Raleigh, Washington DC, Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, and currently offers single-family homes, townhomes and estate homes.
