More than 100 athletes from the eastern half of Kentucky will hit the pool when Scott High School hosts the Special Olympics Kentucky North/East Regional Swim Meet Saturday, April 18.
The event begins with Opening Ceremonies at 9:40 a.m., with the first swim beginning at 9:45 a.m.

The meet will feature all four Kentucky athletes who will compete at this summer’s Special Olympics USA Games, including Union’s Maddie Brinkman and Carmen Widener from Florence, who are scheduled to compete at the Regional Meet.
Brinkman and Widener will both swim individual events before joining USA Games teammates Justin Hale of La Grange and Carson Chaney of Taylorsville for the medley relay. Saturday will be the only time Brinkman and Widener will swim competitively in Northern Kentucky before the USA Games in June.
The North/East Regional Swim Meet is one of two qualifying meets the program is holding in 2026.
Athletes will be swimming for the opportunity to qualify for the Brad Harkleroad Memorial State Swim meet that will take place May 16 at the Ralph Wright Natatorium on the University of Louisville Campus.
