As the Christmas holiday draws near, I often take this time to reflect on the months that have passed and look forward to what we can accomplish in the New Year.
For the first time in nearly 100 years, voters in Kentucky resoundingly chose a new path as they elected a Republican majority in the state House. For far too long, our Commonwealth has underperformed due to failed leadership and failed policies that don’t reflect the values of most Kentuckians.
Thankfully, the citizens spoke and 2017 will bring about a new, better Kentucky.
It’s an exciting time in Frankfort as we look to all the improvement that can be made in Kentucky. I want to personally thank our district for the support and confidence in me; I am humbled to be re-elected to serve you and I look forward to doing so with a unified government.
As we look to the upcoming session, it is important for the citizens of the Commonwealth to know the House Republican Caucus will strongly focus on economic development and job creation within our state.
I believe we have a real opportunity to support pro-business policies that will make Kentucky a better place to live, work, and raise a family. With the support of a like-minded Governor and state Senate, we are sure to have a very successful year with much collaboration.
Transportation is perhaps one of the most important issues facing our community and our region. I have been chosen by House Leadership to Chair the House Transportation Budget Committee, which is charged with the state’s highways and bridges, and most importantly funding for those necessary projects.
In Northern Kentucky, bridges can make or break us. As we move forward, I will be looking at our needs very closely to ensure we have the infrastructure necessary to position our businesses and residents to lead the way.
As the Interim Session concludes, I will continue to work diligently as your State Representative to keep you informed and to ensure that your voice is heard. I want to thank each of you again for your continued support and encouragement.
Serving as your legislator in Frankfort is one of the highest honors, and I am committed to remaining a strong, conservative voice for you in our Capitol.
As we bear down on the end of another year, another Christmas, and the approach of a New Year, let’s all take the time to remember what is most important. Kentucky’s future is in capable hands that reflect our values, and we are truly on the brink of a new, better Commonwealth that will be better suited to serve our families.
After all, ‘tis the season for family, friends, and thanks – and that’s what makes it the most wonderful time of the year.
