In addition to The Great Milkweed Seed Giveaway that will be sweeping Cincinnati (details to come) there are some exciting happenings at Cincinnati Nature Center in celebration of Earth Day later this month.
It’s an Earth Day Celebration
Celebrate Earth Day with Cincinnati Nature Center. Bring your friends Saturday, April 18, Sunday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 22 will be free admission for all. Come and explore the trails and experience trailside stations as you hike. These stations are a great opportunity to discover and learn about interesting nature topics that are happening in the spring. Stop by the Rowe Visitor Center on Earth Day weekend to view monarch artwork created by local students. Once you’ve been inspired by their work, you’ll have the opportunity to leave your own artistic mark on the day.
Flight of the Butterflies film
Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 2 p.m.
Join them for the Flight of the Butterflies film that has been critically acclaimed as a compelling detective story and a scientific adventure at its best. You won’t want to miss this film formally shown in IMAX theaters. Join them as they celebrate Earth Day and witness the magnificent journey of the Monarch Butterfly from Canada to Mexico. An adult led discussion will follow the film.The event is free for all. No registration is required.
Earth Day Weekend Native Plant Sale Kickoff
Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sale continues April 20 – June 30, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
The Nature Shop will have a large assortment of locally grown native plants for sale. Offerings include nectaring plants for butterflies, native edible plants, plants for birds, as well as understory trees and shrubs to replace invasive honeysuckle.
