Potter’s Ranch ‘Garden Gala’ fundraiser proceeds to be matched to $100k by anonymous donor


Potter’s Ranch, a Youth Ranch and Family Life Ministry nonprofit, is a 630-acre wilderness setting along Gunpowder Creek in Boone County. A Garden Gala fundraiser for the nonprofit will be held Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at another beautiful setting in Boone County, Richwood Manor.

Potter’s Ranch was founded in by Robert J. Lightner who is chairman of the Lightner Foundation which supports the ranch and who also founded CMI Insurance in Florence in 1980. Richwood Manor is the home of the late R.C. Durr and Deborah Jo Durr who is hosting the fundraiser.

Tickets are $75 a person, now on sale online.

Proceeds from the Gala will help support and sustain the growing programs offered at Potter’s Ranch which served over 8,700 people in 2014 alone. Various activities at the ranch include camps, workshops, retreats, seminars, outdoor adventures and faith-based enrichment programs designed to be both educational and relaxing.

Potters Ranch is also home to the state’s longest zip line (750 feet), taking adventurers on a ride through the scenic Northern Kentucky wilderness.

Various activities offer opportunities for participation in camps, workshops, retreats, seminars along with recreational programs designed to be entertaining, relaxing and educational.

Potter’s Ranch is a 501-C3 not for profit corporation and is governed by a volunteer board of directors which help oversee the ministry.

An anonymous donor has offered to match fundraising results from the gala, up to $100,000.

Friends of the Ranch Committee who are helping with the event include Jonna Bluemlein, Beverly Dalessandro, Deborah Jo Durr, Pam Goetting, Barbara Keeling, Dan L. Kerr, Beth Long, Drue Rolfes, Susan Schneider, and Addia Wuchner.

The ranch also offers lodging for groups or families, including four Deluxe Cedar Cabins, Pioneer Village Cabin for groups large and small, couple-only Frontier Cabins, Deer View Cabin across from the horse barn, Valley View Cabin, newly remodeled Settler’s Cabin, now a Bunk House, and Tipi village, 8 tipis that can sleep five (5) adults. The ranch also offers tent camping at Tipi Village and Shady Grove. All our lodging opportunities are available year round.
