Despite the cancellation of the annual Senator John Schickel and Steve Brooks Pickle Feast due to inclement weather, organizers still came through.
The event committee raised $3,506 to support the Northern Kentucky Area 7 Special Olympics.

The sixth Annual Pickle and Wiener Feast was scheduled for June 26, at Cornerstone Horse Farm in Richwood. State Sen. John Schickel, R-Union and Brooks, owner of Brooks Meats in Walton, organize the event which is free to the public.
Celebrity appearances spur attendance at the event and guests that were scheduled for this year’s event included Ky. Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer, University of Kentucky basketball legend Jack “Goose” Givens, and Nashville recording artist Troy Brooks, a Walton native.
The menu at the Pickle Feast traditionally includes Schickel’s award-winning pickles, hot dogs and Barleycorns Restaurant’s fried pickles. A charity ham raffle is a feature of the fundraiser.
Pickle Feast Committee Members Brooks, Schickel and John Bender recently presented the check for 2015 to Northern Kentucky Area 7, Special Olympics director Mark Staggs.
The Pickle Feast is scheduled to take place again next year, weather permitting.
