Thomas More senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.) has been named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for the second-straight week.
This is the fourth time she has been named to the National Team of the Week this season as she earned the honor on Dec. 22, Jan. 26 and last week.
The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3hoops.com’s weekly honor roll. This is the program’s 19th season recognizing the performance at each of the five positions for the previous week. This is the 12th time that Moss has been named to the national team of the week as she earned the honor five times during the 2013-14 season and three times during the 2014-15 season.
Moss closed out the Saints’ regular season strong, averaging 28.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 60.4 percent (32-of-53) from the floor and 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from 3-point range during their 3-0 week.
She finished with 30 points in Saturday’s regular-season finale against St. Vincent, becoming the Presidents’ Athletic Conference’s women’s basketball career scoring leader with 2,103 points during her time at Thomas More.
Moss and sophomore jumper Julia Flagge-Echols (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) earned weekly honors from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) office on Monday.
Moss was named the PAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the 18th time in her career and second-straight week.
Flagge-Echols was named the PAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. She helped lead the Saints to an eighth-place finish at Saturday’s Rick Meindl Last Call Meet, which was hosted by Capital University. Flagge-Echols had a pair of top-10 finishes, posting a third-place mark in the triple jump (34-5.50) and a seventh-place mark in the long jump (16-5). Both efforts are new Thomas More indoor records.
Moss and the top-ranked Saints open PAC Championship Tournament on Friday when they host either No. 4-seed Grove City College or No. 5-seed Saint Vincent College at 8 p.m. in a semifinal game at the Connor Convocation Center.
