Sullivan University faculty member Albert W.A. Schmid, an award-winning author and chef, will talk about cooking with Kentucky bourbon when he appears July 28 at the Kenton County Library Erlanger branch.
Schmid is a member of the faculty at Sullivan University’s National Center for Hospitality Studies. He serves as a professor and Director of Sullivan’s Hospitality Management, Hotel & Restaurant Management and Event Management Programs.
During his Northern Kentucky appearance, Schmid will discuss his book The Kentucky Bourbon Cookbook and offer tips and samples of tasty bourbon recipes as part of the library’s Test Kitchen program. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Meeting Room A of the Erlanger branch library.
Schmid not only uses bourbon to make such classic Kentucky cocktails as the Mint Julep, but also tasty and memorable dishes such as bourbon-pecan Crème Brulee with Chocolate Sauce and steaks with bourbon ginger sauce.
Schmid is also the author of The Manhattan Cocktail: A Modern Guide to the Whiskey Classic; The Old Fashioned: An Essential Guide to the Original Whiskey Cocktail; and The Beverage Manager’s Guide to Wines, Beers and Spirits.
His books won three Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in 2010 and 2012 and an Award of Excellence from the International Association of Culinary Professionals in 2011.
The Kenton County Library Erlanger branch is located at 401 Kenton Lands Road. For more information on the event contact Chris Oaks at 859-962-4000 ext. 4107 or christopher.oaks@kentonlibrary.org.
