Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission (NKCAC) has received a grant from Toyota to fund a Smart Board at the Pendleton County Head Start Program located in Falmouth, KY.
The Smart Board will be used as an interactive component for classroom instruction, allowing the children to become more engaged and attentive during their large group learning activities. The program provides the opportunity to play learning games that align with all objectives of the Creative Curriculum, but specifically literacy and math.
Additionally, because of Toyota’s generous gift, the Head Start teachers will be able to show the class videos of real concepts that you cannot bring into the classroom like volcanoes erupting and animals in their natural habitat.
The Smart Board also adds a new approach to engaging kinesthetic learners as there are various applications that can be included in the children’s day that will keep them moving and learning.
“We are extremely excited about this addition to our classroom,” said Laurie Wolsing, Vice President for Children’s Services. “The Smart Board funded by Toyota will allow us to enhance our instructional practices and assist us in preparing children for kindergarten.”
