Winter Carnival IN VUE returns for the fourth year to Bellevue’s Historic Fairfield Avenue Business District on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018. As in years past, this free-admission, family-friendly carnival has fun, entertainment and activities to spare.
The carnival kicks off at 11 a.m. with a Princess and Superhero Parade led by Fairy Godmother and departing from Siam Orchid at 511 Fairfield Avenue. (Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite princess or superhero character.)
The roving Pickled Brothers perform feats of fire-eating and sword swallowing. Presto Paul the magician executes tableside magic at Avenue restaurants. A balloon twister creates colorful inflated masterpieces. Expect to see a couple Star Wars characters along with a Superhero or two roaming the Avenue for photo ops. Face painters and a few surprises will add to the fun.
At Le Sorelle Boutique, enter a drawing to win a $50 gift basket. Visit the giant frog at Splendid Things and pick a slip for a prize. Stop by Darkness Brewing; they’re doing a giveaway, but are being very secretive about it. Other giveaways are planned and visitors may enter drawings at participating Fairfield Avenue merchants.
Additionally, there will be food specials, like milk shakes and malts on sale at Schneider’s Sweet Shop and Superhero cookies at Mama C’s Buttercream and Sprinkles. Visitors can play carnival games, including Swedish Fish Bowl at Witt’s End Candy Emporium and a Taffy Pull at the Cozy Cottage. Fun and activities are planned at various shops along Fairfield Avenue.
Sponsored by United Bank & Capital Trust Company and Cleves and Lonnemann Jewelers, Winter Carnival IN VUE is free and open to the public.
The event takes place – indoors and out – from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 17. (Note: Rain date is Saturday, March 10.)
