After placing third as a freshman and second as a sophomore in the state meet’s longest race, Hartig finally finished first in a time of 4:56.46. No other girls state qualifier broke the five-minute mark in that event.

Hartig also placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and was a member of the Notre Dame 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished third. Highlands came in second in that relay with a foursome that included Keira Kobida, Ragan Moore, Clare Herfel and Sarah Jones..

Louisville Sacred Heart won the girls team title for the 12th consecutive year with 438 points. Ryle placed third with 140.5 and Notre Dame was fourth with 143.5.

In the boys swimming finals on Friday, Ryle placed third behind perennial power Louisville St. Xavier in the team standings. The Raiders scored 177 points in that meet and had the highest boys-girls combined team total of 317.5 points in the championship finals.

Two Ryle swimmers were the top local local finishers in the boys state meet. Chase Knauf placed third in the 200-yard freestyle and Andy Pleiman placed third in the 50-yard freestyle. Highlands opened the boys meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
