Staff report

A new charitable organization has launched in Greater Cincinnati aimed at supporting and fostering area writers and promoting the region’s literary events.

Local author and literary advocate Holly Brians Ragusa on Tuesday announced the launch of Lit Cincy, an organization dedicated to strengthening and unifying the literary ecosystem across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The organization will mark its official launch May 3 on World Press Freedom Day.

Lit Cincy was formed as a community-driven, partnership — a focused initiative designed to make the region’s literary life more visible, connected, and thriving — from poets to playwrights, novelists to journalists, emerging and youth voices to established authors.

“Lit Cincy is more than a single venue or genre,” Brians Ragusa said. “We are a connector – a bookish hub-and-spoke platform created to propel this region’s lettered lives and livelihoods onward.”

Lit Cincy is already building partnerships within the region. The organization focuses on several key priorities, including amplifying literary events across the region; advocating for literary expression and accessibility; supporting writers and creating meaningful connections for readers; fostering cross-genre collaboration; encouraging literacy; and increasing visibility for literary spaces.

Lit Cincy has assembled a board of directors Brians Ragusa described as “a dynamic microcosm of literary voices across Cincinnati, including award-winning authors, poets, journalists, essayists, academics, and independent creatives united by a shared passion for the written word.”
