Greater Cincinnati native JJ Wolf lost a close match Friday battling in the afternoon sun and heat, losing to Australian pro James Duckworth, 7-5, 7-6 (0) in the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament now underway at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Wolf is currently ranked in the top 300.
He reached a career high of 39th in the world three years ago but has been battling injuries ever since. He is back on the rise after winning the Vancouver Open August 1st.
Wolf has been given a wild card to the U.S. Open later this month. Wolf played for Ohio State University before turning pro in 2020. He attended Cincinnati Country Day School.
The tournament runs through August 23.

It has braced for an influx of international visitors.
The event in Mason draws more than 200,000 fans who come from all 50 sstates and more than 40 countries.
