The City of Florence will join the community in honoring the life and legacy of Boone County High School alumnus and longtime Northern Kentucky football coach David Trosper during the retirement of his No. 44 jersey on Friday, October 2.
As part of the ceremony, Florence Mayor Julie M. Aubuchon will present a proclamation acknowledging Trosper’s Boone County roots, his dedication to student athletes and his lasting impact on the Northern Kentucky community through decades of coaching, leadership and mentorship.
Trosper was a standout linebacker at Boone County High School and a key member of the Rebels’ 1986 Class 4A State At Large Championship team. He served as captain and MVP of the 1987 state runner up team and was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
Following his playing career at Union College, Trosper dedicated his career to coaching and mentoring student athletes. His coaching career included positions at Union College, Morehead State University and Holmes High School before he became head football coach at Conner High School in 2007, where he served for 18 seasons until his passing in June 2025.
The No. 44 jersey retirement ceremony will take place on Friday, October 2, at 7 p.m. at Irv Goode Field at Owen Hauck Stadium at Boone County High School, 7056 Burlington Pike, Florence, prior to the Boone County vs. Conner football game.
The City of Florence is honored to participate in this special tribute celebrating Trosper’s contributions to generations of student-athletes and his legacy throughout Boone County and Northern Kentucky.
