The City of Fort Mitchell has announced Jim Hils, David Stoeckle, and K9 Officer Tony as its 2026 Wall of Honor recipients.
The city’s Wall of Honor recognizes individuals who have unselfishly and diligently served the City of Fort Mitchell as either an employee, volunteer, or elected official.
Nominations were reviewed by a committee before eventually selecting Hils, who has been with the Fort Mitchell Fire Department since 1994; Stoeckle, who has been a member of the Fort Mitchell Fire Department since 1989; and K9 Officer Tony, who was the Fort Mitchell Police Department’s first K9 officer to serve the city from 2017 – 2024, alongside his handler Officer Shane Best.
“Our three recipients represent the very best of our community; those whose service and dedication have made a lasting difference. We are proud to recognize their contributions and the positive impact they have had on Fort Mitchell,” said Mayor Greg Pohlgeers.
Hils, Stoeckle, and K9 Officer Tony will have their names engraved on the granite wall in front of the city building thanks to Lewin Monuments, located at 2218 Dixie Highway in Fort Mitchell.
The Wall of Honor Ceremony is held every two years and will take place on Saturday, September 12 at 10 a.m. inside the fire bay at the city building, located at 2355 Dixie Highway in Fort Mitchell. Colors will be presented by the Fort Mitchell Fire Department. The invocation will be given by Fort Mitchell Assistant Fire Chief Dave Jansing.
The event is open to the public and will be followed by a short reception. Past inductees are invited to attend the event.
