Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky’s The 410: Give Where You Live NKY held its latest mini-grant event Thursday, where members came together to learn about local nonprofit needs and collectively award $7,500 to Partners For Change.
The grant was selected by members through The 410: Give Where You Live NKY’s giving process, which puts funding decisions directly in the hands of participating members. Members nominated local nonprofits, heard about the work they are doing in the community, and ultimately voted to determine where the funding would have the greatest impact.
Partners For Change was selected to receive the September mini-grant in recognition of its work supporting individuals and families across Northern Kentucky.
“Partners For Change is pleased to be the recipient of the 410 mini-grant,” said Stacie Strotman, President and CEO of Partners For Change. “We value the community’s support in helping us implement our core programs, which include Out of School Time (after school and summer), Mentoring and Family Engagement. Together, we know we can help our students succeed in school and in life.”
The September event is part of the newly unified The 410: Give Where You Live NKY, which combines Horizon’s two signature giving circles—The 410 and Give Where You Live NKY—into one collective giving initiative. The program brings donors together to pool their resources, build connections, and make meaningful investments in Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties.
The updated format features two fast-paced mini-grant selection events throughout the year, alongside a traditional grant cycle focused on a community-selected area of need. Members also selected after- school and mentoring programs as the focus area for this year’s traditional grant cycle.
“Our members continue to show what is possible when people come together around a shared commitment to Northern Kentucky,” said Nancy Grayson, President and CEO of Horizon Community Foundation. “The 410 gives people an opportunity to not only give, but to be directly involved in deciding where those dollars can make a difference. We are thrilled to support Partners For Change and the important work they are doing in our community.”
Through The 410: Give Where You Live NKY, members commit annually, pool their contributions, and participate in a dynamic process that allows them to identify local needs and direct funding. The program creates an accessible way for individuals to experience collective philanthropy while strengthening their connection to the community they call home.
Grant applications for this year’s traditional grant cycle will open Monday, September 14. Eligible nonprofits focused on after-school and mentoring programs can submit applications through Saturday, October 31.
