Kenton County Public Library will celebrate the iconic life and enduring legacy of Dolly Parton, the songwriter behind the hit song “9 to 5,” with a special commemorative event on Sept. 25.
The systemwide celebration will feature Dolly-inspired crafts, music and activities, plus plenty of pink and rhinestones. The day also will highlight one of her most enduring legacies, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“Dolly once said her daddy told her the Imagination Library was probably the most important thing she would ever do, and I think that says it all,” said Dr. Denise Fritsch, executive director of the Kenton County Public Library. “Her music and larger-than-life personality brought joy to millions, and her gift of books will continue to inspire generations to come. That’s why we’re celebrating her on Sept. 25.”
Each month, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a high-quality, age-appropriate book to more than three million registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child’s family. Currently, 50% of eligible Kenton County children receive a book monthly.
