Underwater Pumpkin GLOW will again transform Newport Aquarium this September with glowing pumpkin sculptures, underwater Jack-O-Lanterns, seasonal animal enrichment and unexpected fall moments around every corner.
The event features giant glowing pumpkins placed throughout the aquarium’s exhibits, where Jack-O-Lanterns become artificial reefs for the animals to explore and 10-foot-tall Giant Pacific Octopus sculpture made entirely from pumpkins will glow underwater, doubling as a reef for sharks and fish to swim through.
This year will feature even more for visitors to discover, with new larger-than-life glowing pumpkin sculptures joining the experience, along with a smiling sea turtle. Animals will receive pumpkin treats and special seasonal enrichment throughout the exhibit, as fish, frogs, and other animals snack on the gourds.
In addition, the 2026 event will feature a new Roughtail Stingray — measuring five feet across and over nine feet long — joining the aquarium’s Surrounded by Sharks exhibit just in time for the event.
Pumpkin decorating will be available daily in Stingray Hideaway using non-toxic acrylic paint markers and stencils, available for an additional cost, while supplies last.
Underwater Pumpkin GLOW runs September 19 through November 1 and is free with general admission and for those with a Newport Aquarium membership.
