Illustrator Lucie Rice and stained glass artist Jane Pompilio will share their work in Storytellers in Ink & Glass at 8 North Center for the Arts in Fort Thomas beginning Friday, November 6, with a public reception from 6-9 p.m. The exhibition will continue through November 22.

Both artists grew up in Fort Thomas and graduated from Highlands High School. Their joint exhibition brings two approaches to visual storytelling into the same gallery, pairing Rice’s illustration with Pompilio’s stained glass and inviting neighbors, former classmates and regional arts audiences to celebrate their local roots.
Rice is an illustrator and designer based in Carmel, Indiana. Her colorful, playful work appears in magazines, books, murals and advertising campaigns. Animals and nature are recurring interests in her personal projects. She earned a BFA in painting from the University of Evansville and an MFA in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Pompilio has worked in stained glass for more than three decades. She previously taught at Kaleidoscope Stained Glass, where she continues to contribute to the creation and development of custom windows. She is the author of Where Do Birds Go At Night?, a picture book illustrated with her stained glass artwork.
The exhibition also offers an opportunity to learn about 8 North’s plans to improve accessibility. The organization is developing plans for an elevator and a rear addition to help more people participate in activities throughout the building.
8 North Center for the Arts is the community arts home of Village Players of Fort Thomas, presenting theater, gallery exhibitions and classes in a historic building in the heart of Fort Thomas.
The center is located at 8 N. Fort Thomas Avenue and is open Wednesday–Friday, 6–9 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday, 2–6 p.m. It is closed Monday and Tuesday.
