Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee namesake Tom Lamb celebrates 90th birthday with four generations of family

Four generations of the Lamb family gathered Monday at the Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee headquarters to celebrate Tom Lamb’s 90th birthday. The celebration included a special tribute: a Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee truck parked inside the building, bearing the name of the man who inspired the brand.

Tom is the namesake of Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, the fast-growing mobile coffee franchise founded by his son, Tony Lamb, creator of Kona Ice. Since launching in 2020, the brand has grown to more than 400 trucks across the country, serving specialty coffee, teas and handcrafted drinks. At 90, Tom still works at the corporate headquarters where he supports and connects with franchise owners.

“When we launched the brand, naming it after him was about honoring the values he instilled in us: treating people with extreme kindness, showing up every day, and never forgetting where you came from,” said Tony Lamb, founder and CEO of Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee. “Having him here with our family means everything.”

Tom and his wife, Beverly, raised four children, building a family that now includes numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Guests celebrated with stories, memories and specialty drinks served from the truck in his honor.

“I never imagined my name would be driving down streets across America on coffee trucks,” Tom said. “To be 90 years old and have my family around me, that’s the real blessing. I will cherish this.”
