Natural gas workers from across country to compete in National Gas Rodeo September 17-18 at Turfway Park

Local Duke Energy teams are among more than 50 two-person and four-person teams of natural gas workers from across the country scheduled to compete in the National Gas Rodeo to be held today through Friday in Florence.

During the event, the best natural gas workers nationwide compete for a national championship by demonstrating the skills they use daily while providing customers with safe, reliable natural gas service. Rodeo teams will cut through six-inch steel pipes, dig through sand and gravel, simulate the installation of a natural gas service line, perform precision tasks using excavators and backhoes, and more.

The National Gas Rodeo will take place Thursday and Friday, Sept. 17-18, on the grounds of Turfway Park in Florence. Qualifying events will be held from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thursday, with a final qualifying event, relay, and awards ceremony on Saturday from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
